Thread: Powder silos containing multiple inserts

Our practice is currently working on a bulk storage facility for a 'difficult' powder product. We have commissioned a series of 120 cu.m. silos in which we have installed multiple arrays of 'tent' shaped inserts to limit the compressive stresses developed in the powder and thus maintain mass flow without caking.

The system works well and we are now trying to refine our theoretical design to reflect the observed performance of our clients installation.

Does anyone know of any published material which may cover this topic? Alternatively, is there anyone working on similar schemes with whom we could compare notes and exchange ideas for mutual benefit?

We have had some experience with silos using multiple "tents", and have developed a programme
to carry out calculations for pressures, etc. Feel free to contact us if you want to discuss this further.
