Hello,
In case of chain conveyor, manually operated screw take-up is adequate and is generally used to tighten the chain when need be. The chain stretch is insignificant compared to belt in belt conveyor. Therefore chain conveyor will not have gravity take-up etc. The screw tightening is by judgement or one can use torque wrench.
