    Smile Textbook Models

Wherever this is posted please be aware that all the longitudinal systems shown can be replaced by simple backstacking booms to perform the stacking and reclaiming operations with a single boom. No harrows with floor scrapers would be needed and tripper height, and length, could be drastically reduced.
The system was used in the 1970's by Jeffrey Dresser and Batemans but has disappeared as those companies got merged with other outfits.
Radial piles are correctly shown catering for access to emergency reclaim facilities but I would be grateful for verification of the doughnut capacities mentioned. Since the reclaim booms must extend to full base length the clearance of the stacking boom becomes critical unless the boom is parked in the valley. If the boom is not parked there then the necessary up-luffing is wasted.
    They are very good models!
