    High Shear Processing of Nanoparticles

    High shear processing in the dispersion of nanoparticles

    High shear granulation aids the agglomeration process, or the assembling of a mass of particles together, to form a larger granule.

    Microfluidizer® high shear fluid processors are the gold standard in nano-enabled applications for uniform particle size reduction, cell disruption and bottom-up nanoparticle creation with guaranteed scale-up.

    Microfluidizer® technology can be useful in the process of granulation because of their high shear technology – for example, this can be used as an upstream process, which helps in the kneading and processing of particles, leading to particle size reduction and achieving particle size uniformity which can then be used as constituents to produce agglomerates. The finer core constituent produced from the microfluidics processing would support the granulation process by adhering to neighbouring particles, as the powders are blended together, and form compressed agglomerates more effectively. Finer, more uniform particle sizes would also lead to producing a more uniform blend and improved dispersion of granular material within the agglomerate. Effective granulation means that the final generated product is tightly packed with sufficient bonding within the powder components and therefore would have a reduced likelihood of undesirably segregating or involuntarily deagglomerating.
