    Question Rules of thumb

    Dear friends,

I have a chain mill that discharge on a belt conveyor, the mill generate too much dust at the feed end of the belt conveyor. I think install a balance duct to minimize the air flow and dust emissions.

Do you know which are the rules of thum or criteria to design a balance duct for dust control?

There are many possible methods of controlling dust that is generated at transfer points. Which method is best suited for your application will depend on the dynamics specific to the operation.

You will probably require a chute change, skirting. and a rubber exit curtain. You may require a plenum, dust collection, filters, et cetera.

To determine what is best suited for your application contact companies or representatives that specialze in this type of work. In the US, you can contact Martin Engineering or Benetech. Benetceh's web site is and Martin Engineering's address can be obtained from the directory on this site.

    Good luck in your search.
