PORT OF VANCOUVER WELCOMES M/V GREEN PARK ON HER MAIDEN VOYAGE

September 12, 2003 -- Port of Vancouver, USA, welcomed the M/V Green Park, captained by Krzysztof Sieminski, on her maiden voyage to the Columbia River. The M/V Green Park is owned by Stonevale Ltd.of British Virgin Island, operated by Zodiac Maritime Agencies of London, and represented by local steamship agents, Williams Dimond & Co.

Built in Usuki, Japan, and the M/V Green Park launched on August 1, 2003. The tanker is 477 feet (146 meters) in length weighing 19,500 dead weight tons. The vessel sailed from Japan and Korea before arriving at the Columbia River this week. The M/V Green Park discharged 4,000 metric tons of caustic soda at the Port of Vancouver's Terminal 2’s liquid bulk dock, operated by ST Services, Inc. Caustic soda is primarily used in the paper manufacturing industry. The vessel will sail to Tacoma, Wash., and Vancouver, B.C. before returning to Asia.

ST's current leased premises at the Port include 45 liquid chemical storage tanks, dry bulk fertilizer storage, and a liquid packaging line that blends a variety of different heat transfer fluids and antifreeze. Some of the products that ST currently handles include sodium chlorate, caustic soda, lignin sulphinate, ethylene glycol, and three grades of plasticizer.

"We join ST Services in welcoming the M/V Green Park to the Port of Vancouver, USA," said Port marine terminals superintendent, Carl Loehr. "We look forward to our continued relationship with ST Services and the products they bring to the Port of Vancouver and the Columbia River."

The Port of Vancouver, USA, created by Clark County taxpayers in 1912, is one of the major ports on the Pacific Coast. Its competitive strengths include available land, versatile cargo handling capabilities, vast transportation networks, dependable labor force and an exceptional level of service to its customers and community.
