Thread: Sheet Metal Development Program

  1. Lightbulb Sheet metal Development Programme for Cone,Transition,.etc

Sub: Advanced Sheet metal development program

New and advanced sheet metal program for Fabrication & Engineering Companies is available in Microsoft EXCEL now,

Due to huge competition persists in fabrication companies, Surviving can happen only through cost to cost manufacturing and completing job faster than specified time without any re-work.

As we have seen all software available for sheet metal works give overall size of development and wont give weight and other necessary outputs, need skill to operate such programme.

With 18 years practical experience in heavy fabrication and sheet metal works,we have developed this advanced and simplified software which enables you to make development simplest according to raw plate available in your shop/open market .

    This Program consist of
    1. Cone Development
    2. Segment marking detail ( without making arc – for higher radius)
    3. Transition (Square to Round , rectangle to Round – with weight)
    4. Inclined Transition
    5. Miter bend
    6. T-branch
    7. Flange – Segment marking

    Main advantages are
    · Minimum input and maximum output in graphical sketch.
    · No drafting skill is required, thus this program works under Microsoft EXCEL
    · According to plate size available we can make development.
    · Total detail required for fabrication are given in A4 sheet
    · Other then input cells, all are write protected.
    · Program works based on Good engineering practice (alerts you by prompt pop us message if the development is not as per engineering practice)
    · Increases productivity and reduces working time on particular job.
    · Reduces material wastages
    · Proven program in various Fabrication/Design companies for more than 4 years , results are excellent.
    · User friendly

    Example:
    # Cone development

Cone development consists one horizontal parting and “N” number of vertical
    parting.
    INPUTS
After entering Customer, Project, Drawing No, Description detail INPUT to be
given ( INPUT = Cone major dia(OD), Cone Minor dia(OD),Height, Thickness,
    No.of vertical parting required)

    · This will calculate the mean diameter and completes development work in microseconds.
    · Need to enter available plate size at specified location.

    OUTPUTS
    1. Development of Individual segments in sketch.
    2. Template required for rolling.
    3. Accurate weight of individual segments
    4. Accurate total weight of cone (in Kgs & Pounds)
    5. Volume of Cone
    6. Surface area of Cone (for paint area calculation)

    Other Outputs.

    1. If you wrongly enter plate width higher than required size this program will alert you to “Reduce plate width???”.
    2. As this program works considering Good engineering practice, will prompt messages to avoid “+” joint and minimum segment width of 500mm.

    steel
I am mechanical engineer & interested to understand steel fabrication drawings & their calculation. Can you please please advise , what to read to understand the design calaculation of ducts, chutes, steel bins, transition pieces, & their developement etc. Also, to calculate plate thickness, expansion joints, supprt details, stiffener and also pressure drop, insulation requirement for high temperature application.

Please send some other useful engineering excel sheet for calculation.

    Thanks in advance

It is not clear to me exactly what you need.

If it is an understanding of sheet metalwork and developing flat shapes that can be pressed into the required form i.e. square to round transitions etc, then this is a craft skill and training may be available from your local technical college. To accompany this practical training I would recommend that you purchase "The Geometry of Sheet Metal Work" by A. Dickason which is generally accepted to be one of the standard texts on the subject.

  10. Talking Wrapped up in Detail

    Gentlemen,
Any 3D modeling program worth its salt should have an unwrap feature in its repertoire.
It is only recently that I got my SW feature to work on conic sections after reading the article which explained that the cutting edge I was using to unwrap from was not in fact a straight edge. Once I got the hang of that I had no further problem.
With a normal 3D modeler, outside add on packages are quite superfluous.
    Persevere with what you've got.
