Storage of Sulphur & Urea in Vertical Concrete Silos

    Dear Sirs,

Thankyou for the message on Forum Watch dated 28 March.
I have visited the sites mentioned and find the topics very relevant and informative.

I need advice on storing of Sulphur and Urea in Vertical Concrete Silos, which is described below. I hope the forum can help me in this

We propose storing Sulphur and Urea in Vertical Concrete Silos of 25.000 tonnes capacity. In this regard we invite information on the following:

    - List of existing installations where vertical concrete silos are in use for sulphur and urea

    - Maximum capacity of such silos

    - Experience / problems encountered with respect to storing sulphur and urea in such silos

    - Fire related problems encountered in the case of sulphur and how it was overcome.

    Regards

    Binu Eapen

Dear Concrete Professional/ Technologist/ Entrepreneur and Business Friend,

Definitely, KF-A provides the highest resistance to corrosion superior to high alumina cements like Sika. 100% water impermeable without any membrane, coating, densifiers, etc or other isolation measures. Highly economical, no curing is needed.

For highest corrosion resistance even in acidic, alkali-rich, and sugar or salt containing environments, KF-A is dosed by 7.5 kg/m3 of concrete.

KALMATRON® (U.S.A. Patent 5,728,208) is a water reducer, plasticizer, water proofing and shrinkage controlling agent, curing compound, corrosion inhibitor, cement class upgrading and high early strength admixture.

KALMATRON® the powder admixture KF-A provides increased compressive strength, 100% impermeability to liquids (including water, acids, crude oil and fuel), freeze-thaw resistance of 300 cycles or greater; there are no shrinkage cracks, and 2-3 times less shrinkage than with standard concrete.

Please find attached the TDS, MSDS and brochure of KF-A.

Sulphur tanks are generally vertical cylindrical, above ground, insulated carbon steel tanks with submerged steam coils.
We do not use for High Temperature Linings for Sulfur Storage Tanks. VOC Free Coatings.
A shotcrete layer with 10kg/m3 of KF-A will provide highest corrosion resistance and complete water impermeability. For new structure construction, just add the KF-A admixture at 7.5kg/m3 and corrosion resistance even to ph1 acids and complete liquid impermeability starting at 2" (5 cm) concrete thickness will be provided with KF-A.

We do not use resin/Polymers. No curing was needed under sun heat at 110°F.

KALMATRON® KF-A is the first of the generation of chemically active admixtures to the cement containing mixes that increases cementitious value and volume of cement grain. Therefore, the lower quality cement has the higher the effectiveness of KF-A. That is why the results of applications are varying but always exceeding targeted one.

KALMATRON® KF-A is the highly economical solution that provides transformation of conventional concrete mix to High Performance Concrete without increasing of targeted cost for industrial volume of application. http://info.nsf.org/USDA/letters/136880.pdf
KALMATRON® K100® is a liquid admixture to concrete mixes which offers the following benefits:

    • upgrades regular concrete to HPC
    • No shrinkage cracks - ever
    • No curing is needed
    • 100% waterproof
    • Impermeable to crude oil, acids, sugars and salts
    • Will not be affected by exposure to salt water
    • No other admixtures are needed
    • High early strength
    • Increased resistance to corrosion and freeze-thaw cycles (F250-F 4 00)
    • Concrete won't slide, crack or flake
    • reduces heat emission by 30% to 50%
    • ZERO carbon dioxide emitted - a Green Concrete
    • 100% non-toxic and safe for drinking water tanks and food storage structures, NSF approved & VOC free
    • Can be applied in temperature ranges from -4℉ to 104℉
    • Great batch workability ("the Creamy Effect")
