    Brabender Technologie shows new feeding solutions from the FlexWall® line of metering feeders

    Beside proven metering feeders with paddle-massaged flexible hoppers from the FlexWall¨ and FlexWall¨Plus line, Brabender Technologie KG are showing three new designs at POWTECH 2004 extending the broad range of application feasibilities of the line once again after a FlexWall¨Plus feeder version with interchangeable single and twin screws has only recently been introduced.

    In the new "Easy Change" variant of the FlexWall® Plus Feeder the hopper, the screw and the housing are designed as one exchangeable feed unit, which can be decoupled by means of quick release locks and can be lifted off the chassis, drive unit and paddles inclusive of the residual ingredient. The design does not only allow external wet or dry cleaning of the feed unit but also reduces downtime in case of frequent recipe changes to a minimum when keeping interchangeable feed units in stock with a variety of alternate ingredients. In the latter case cleaning work is not required at all.

    Hygienic bulk ingredient metering in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry is made possible by a new FlexWall® Plus feeder version in "Hygienic Design® complying with EU and DIN EN directives, EHEDG recommendations and international standards (3-A, FDA, USDA). Brabender is authorized to use the 3-A Symbol of the "3-A Symbol Council® and the QHD (Qualified Hygienic Design) sign.

    For the first time Brabender are presenting their FlexWall® Pharma Feeder for the pharmaceutical industry. The housing, screw tube and extension hopper with rounded surfaces are interconnected by quick clamping rings for easy dismantling and cleaning. When assembling the feeder, the flexible hopper is fixed to the gearing by a clamping ring. Its upper edge and the the screw outlet are then placed between housing and extension hopper respectively screw tube. When interconnecting the units by the clamping rings, the hopper is pressed in tightly resulting in sealings similar to aseptic pipeline connections. The feeder allows interior and exterior wet cleaning. The gearing seal can be removed for cleaning and is available with a gas purge connection. All steel parts are made of stainless steel AISI 316 L, the flexible hopper consists of FDA approved PUR. The feeder is available in single or twin screw design.

    All feeders from the FlexWall® and FlexWall®Plus line are available as loss-in-weight feeders or volumetric feeders and can be supplied in explosion-proof design complying with ATEX 95.
