Meeting the challenges - The Chronos Richardson World

There is no doubt that bringing Chronos Richardson and Richard Simon into the Premier Tech Packaging business unit has been a challenging task. Senior management are now pleased to confirm that this process is at an advanced stage and the new-look Chronos Richardson is ready to regain its rightful place as a world leading supplier of packaging and weighing equipment.

Significant re-engineering programs have been undertaken over the past six months to optimize and streamline key operations in sales, manufacturing and after sales service around the world.

Although the company is focussing on concentrating production into four main manufacturing sites, local support and service is being given the highest priority.

This consolidation of operations will ensure strong customer support without compromise. Locally focussed groups of highly competent engineers, service technicians and sales personnel will ensure world class support.

Premier Tech Packagings president Andr Noreau is very upbeat about the changes and challenges ahead: We stressed at the outset that our acquisitions of Chronos Richardson and Richard Simon have been carried out for strategic rather than purely commercial reasons. Our commitment to improvements and expansion over the past six months emphasises this and we are on track to become the worlds leading supplier of flexible packaging solutions. All our employees have approached the challenges with enthusiasm and determination to succeed. By strengthening our operations in strategic locations we can focus efforts on designing and building the best packaging equipment for the world market.

The Chronos Richardson site in Germany at Hennef will become the central hub for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. There have been dramatic transformations in Hennef which has been the home of automatic weighing for over 125 years. Increases in key personnel of over 25% across all disciplines, together with increased space of 50%, give us the base to expand our business over the next decade. The operation is now ideally placed and equipped to take advantage of the exciting possibilities offered within an expanding political EU.

In the Far East, expansions in the Bangkok operation are at an advanced stage and full manufacturing, sales and service facilities allow us to meet the local challenges, ensuring we are fully competitive in this important market area. Local sales and service teams in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and China are further examples of our Hub and Spoke principle of operation. The joint venture in India is continuing to expand and demonstrates our policy of adopting the optimum business strategy to meet specific market needs.

Premier Tech Packaging is headquartered in Rivire du Loup, Quebec, Canada and services the important north and south American markets.
