    Long distance convey problem

    I'm student at Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia. I'm working on my diploma work.
    I need to teoretiocaly solve the problem of Coal handling from stockpile to ship. Known parameters are:
    conveyor width=1000 mm
    bulk density=2700 kg/cu m
    lmp size=30 mm
    surcharge angle = 20 degrees

    I also need to develop power of motion.
    Thank you

  2. It is not very clear what are your requirements / assignment. Possibly, you want to design conveyors. For designing the conveyors, first one has to fix the layout or profile drawing of the conveyor. One cannot design conveyor, unless this information is available.
    You have mentioned bulk density of coal as 2700 kg/cu m, which is erroneous. Normally coal bulk density will be in the range of 750 to 1000 kg / cu m. Also, conveying rate mtph is necessary. There are well known methods for designing the conveyor, you can find such literature applicable to this subject. In case you are interested, I have authored & published a book on Belt Conveyor which effectively deals with almost all issues of the conveyor including your subject. Please contact me if you need additional information on the book.

    Thank you for your intersting

    There was a mistake because material to be conveyed is Iron Ore, not Coal like I have writen.
    Capacity is 300 t/h
    Thank you for your reply.

    Dear Sir,

    Mr. Mulani noted that you have not provided sufficient details to allow this forums specialist to provide help.

    Following are the minimums in addition to your specs.:

    1. Length
    2. Vertical and Horizontal Arrangements
    3. Operating temperature - max & min
    4. Moisture Content
    5. Tonnage

    Noting you picked the width, what about the speed? Why not state the problem constraints and see what others will say about your problem.

    Does your professor know you are getting professional help?

    Get your self a demo software

    Juraj,

    The best place to start is with a demo software that does what you want. This way you can find what you need and maybe it will help you define the things that you need better....

    On our site at www.overlandconveyor.com you will find Belt Wizard II for designing conveyor belts you can download it and use it on your problem and it should give you what you need...

    Juraj,

    We also encourage you to use The CDI conveyor design program BELTSTAT. It too can be downloaded free of charge to demonstrate the many variables that can be studied.

  7. Conveying problem

    Hello Juraj,
    Is it a conveying problem or your problem?OK, you have not given any data to calculate.
    Cap. Q= 3600xVxArea x bulk density x.8
    Considering 300x1.2=360t/hr. as design capacity, velocity will come out 0.41m/sec (say0.5m/sec) . So 1000mm belt width is too big. Here area is 0.111 sq. M against 35 deg. trough angle& 20deg. surge.I will give more to you. I assume the following:
    Length=200M
    Lift=5M
    Vel.=1.0m/sec
    Then the following will come out.
    Belt KW=22
    Belt rating= 500/3
    T1=38766N
    T2=17649N

    You give me proper details, I will give you all hand out calculation for you.But have you noted the last line of Mr.Nordell's reply?
    Cheers.

    Belt conveyor design

    Dear Mr Juraj Antonak
    Before using any software of conveyor design you should have atleast basic knowledge of conveyors
    If you want to understand basic design philosophy of belt conveyors, I suggest to go thru hand book like CEMA belt conveyors for bulk materials or ISO 5048.

  9. Conveying problem

    Dear Singh Shab ,
    CEMA & ISO-5048 are not the hand book.Hand book covers many things .

    Dear Juraj,
    You please go through the following books:
    1.Belt conveyor by.. S. Spivokovaski
    2. Belt conveyor by.. Alexzandrov
    3. CEMA
